Pont Valentre

Located just to the south of the train station is the most famous bridge in the region, spanning the riverLot. A bridge built in the medieval times, it once formed part of the towns defences, and two of the three towers have been designed in such a way that you can drop things on people attacking below.

Just opposite the bridge is a natural spring, which supplies drinking water to the town, and has been dedicated to the Roman goddess Divona. Roman coins have been found on the banks near the spring, though to have been dropped off the bridge.

Cathedrale St-Etienne

A Romanesque cathedral built in 1119, it has two 18 meter wide cupolas on top which are thought to be the largest in the country. The cathedral, like many inFrance, has been added too over the years and provides a fascinating in site into the architectural tastes throughout the different centuries.

Vieux Cahors

The medieval quarters located in the town, simply head to Blvd Leon Gambetta and look to the east for the old town. You’ll find some beautiful homes and hotels down the narrow streets which were built when in the Middle Ages when Cahors was a commercial hotbed and full of wealth.
