Mont Blanc
The tallest mountain in western Europe, Mont Blanc can be climbed by foot and can also be climbed by cable car. Highly trained skiers can also climb the mountain on their ski’s although a guide is advised unless skiers know the area well. The best place to park is at the foot inChamonix.
The Three Valleys (Les Trois Vallees)
The largest ski area in the world, and one of the best places in the world to ski, the three valleys consists of over 300 different ski runs, 183 lifts and has over 2000 snow cannons topping up the snow during periods where snow doesn’t fall.
Albertville
Albertville hosted in winter Olympics in 1992 and has stayed on the map since that event. The town has a number of Olympic themed cafes, bars and restaurants and is a great base for heading up in to theAlpsfor some skiing, hiking or mountain biking during the summer months.
Lyon
The second largest city in the country, Lyon was founded by the Romans thousands of years ago. Now a heritage city, there are many preserved historical areas of the city, including the stunning Fourviere Basilica which is lit up at night.
