Sightseeing-aix-en-provence
Located just 18 miles away from the busy town of Marseille, Aix-en-Provence is a very stylish and chic place to visit, with definite leanings towards the Parisian left bank way of life. The town itself is very beautiful and consists of hundreds of 17th century mansions which line their way along boulevards which are shaded by the huge trees that feature in their centre.
Aix-en-Provence is most famous in France for its university, which is frequented by some of the wealthiest students in France. With over 30,000 students the town can be very busy during term time, and nice and quiet for visitors during the holidays.
Getting around the town is very simple if you hire a car, and you can pick one up in the town centre or from a nearby airport. There are ample paid for parking spaces, many of which are covered.
The nearest airport to the town is the Aeroport Marseille-Provence which is less than 20 miles away. You can also get the train from Marseille, Gap and Briancon into the town centre train station, or if you would rather get the TGV there is a larger station about 5 miles from the town centre.
