Car Hire in Disneyland Paris
Formerly known as Euro Disney, Disneyland Paris is the most visited tourist attraction anywhere in Europe, and is located just outsideParisitself. The resort was the second Disneyland to open outside theUS, just after the park inTokyo, and consists of a shopping area, theWaltDisneyStudiosPark, and theDisneylandPark, which is dominated by the huge magical kingdom.
One of the easiest ways to get to the park, which is well out of town is to hire a car, as there is ample parking at the resort. You can fly into Charles de Gaulle inParis, orOrlyAirporton the outskirts of the city and drive to the resort in under a hour.
Things to do when you hire a car to get to Disneyland Paris
The Castle
The centre of the park and the main attraction is the huge castle, which features in the run up to all Disney films. Up close it’s obvious the castle is made of plastic, but from a distance it looks truly magical, and many children will fall in love at first sight. Just to the side of the castle is an entrance to theDragonCave, which features a sleeping dragon and is a must see atDisneyland.
The Characters
Your children and you will have seen the films again and again and now is your chance to meet your favourite characters. Located all around the park you will meet life size characters from all the films. They will happily sign autographs and pose for photos so be sure to take a camera and autograph book. The management are very careful to preserve the magic of the characters by making sure that two characters the same are never found near each other in the park.
The Shows
One of the biggest features of a trip to any Disney resort are the fantastic shows they put on, and theParisresort is no different. With Honey, I shrunk the audience, Tarzan and Armageddon special effects our favourites, there is a show for every age of child, and they’re enjoyable for adults as well.
The Rides
Disneylandis primarily a theme park, and a trip to a theme park wouldn’t be complete without rides. WithSpaceMountainthe main attraction, you can also ride on the Twilight Zone of Terror, the Indiana Jones and theTempleofPeriland theBigThunderMountainrides. Some rides have height restrictions which you should be aware of if travelling with younger children.
If the weathers good we would recommend the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, a water ride and one of the best in the world.
The Shops
A theme park wouldn’t be a theme park without hideously over priced shops, andDisneylandis no different on that front. The stores feature good quality Disney products, but expect to pay for what you buy.
